A new museum exhibit called "Sex in Design/Design in Sex" is finding sex in everyday places.
The exhibit was opened by New York's Museum of Sex . It showcases the impact sex has on the design of many absolutely non-sexual items and even the traditional sex toy.
However, this exhibit is not intended for pure entertainment, Sarah Jacobs , the curator of the exhibit says.
The organizers "Sex in Design/Design in Sex" did not want things that a kid would find funny. They were looking for phallic shaped pieces that wouldn't be a joke. This wasn't an easy matter. They wanted pieces with subtle cues of sex.
Among doznes of items exhibited by the museum visitors can see detailed and expensive sex toys made of such exotic materials as gold, glass, jewels and even human hair. Along with sex toys the exhibit holds a coffee pot Jacobs that does resemble a corseted woman's figure' and a plate made for two people to share. The curator says this plate "gives a sense of intimacy".
"Sex in Design/Design in Sex" exhibit is transforming the look of vibrators and other sex toys.
Sarah Jacobs says that sex toys, displayed by the museum are almost like art pieces. They are really beautiful.
The exhibit is running now through April 27. |
