Inhabitants of these cities have sex much more often than people living in other American cities - at least their condom and contraceptive purchases indicate as much. Exactly these purchases placed the mentioned metros in the top 10 of The Forbes Survey of America's Most Lustful Cities.

Research firm ACNielsen provided The Forbes with a per-capita index of over-the counter contraceptive purchases in major U.S markets for the past 52 weeks. The average index was 100.

Denver topped the list of most lustful cities with index of 289. This means that companies managed to sell 189 percent more contraceptives than they expected. Other cities that got in the Top 10 are Seattle, Washington D.C and Salt Lake City.

In fact contraceptive sales are not a good way of measuring sexual desire, especially when things come to monogamous couples or same-sex couples, but they provide a broad picture of sexual activity in each city.

Though American's sex lives are thriving in private, they are greatly influenced by ever-present TV, Internet, music and movies. One of the most evident examples is skyrocket in sales of Rabbit vibrator after the 1998 episode of "Sex and the City" in which demure Charlotte became obsessed with this vibe.
